- PREVACID (LANZAPRAZOLE by Intas)
Treats ulcers, esophagitis, and other conditions caused by
too much stomach acid.
You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an
allergic reaction to lansoprazole.
- Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take and how
often.
- Take your medicine before eating.
- It is best to swallow the capsule whole. But if you have
trouble swallowing the capsule, open it and sprinkle the granules on a spoonful of
applesauce or other soft food. Swallow the medicine right away. Do not chew the granules.
- Do not stop taking this medicine until your doctor tells you
to, even if you feel better.
- Store the capsules at room temperature, away from heat and
direct light.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
If you miss a dose:
- Take your medicine as soon as you remember, unless it is
almost time for your next dose.
- Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next
usual dose.
- You should not use two doses at the same time.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other
medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are also taking
theophylline, sucralfate (CarafateŽ), iron, amoxicillin, or ketoconazole.
- Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco because these
things can increase your stomach acid.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor
before taking this medicine.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you have liver disease or any
blood disorders.
Call your doctor right away if you have any of these side
effects:
- Chest pain
- Trouble breathing or hives
- Black, tarry stools, bloody vomit or vomit that looks like
coffee grounds
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
If you have problems with these less serious side effects,
talk with your doctor.
- Stomach discomfort, nausea
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Headache
- Skin rash
- Loss of appetite
- Changes in sense of taste
