- NATRILIX (Lozol, indapamide)
Description
Treats high blood pressure and fluid retention (edema) caused by heart failure. Indapamide
is a "water pill" and belongs to a class of drugs called diuretics.

When you should not use this medicine
You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to indapamide,
sulfa drugs, or if you are unable to urinate.
How to use and store this medicine
Tablets:
- Take this medicine exactly as your doctor ordered. Even if
you feel fine your blood pressure can still be high.
- You will need to go to the bathroom more often while you are
taking this medicine. To keep from having to go too often during the night, take
indapamide in the morning (unless your doctor tells you differently).
- May be taken with or without food.
- Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and
direct light.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
If you miss a dose:
- Take the missed dose as soon as possible.
- If it is almost time for your next regular dose, skip the
missed dose and return to your regular schedule.
- You should not use two doses at the same time.
How to use this medicine
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter
medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking lithium,
cortisone drugs, drugs used for allergies or colds, QuestranŽ, ColestidŽ, or digoxin
(LanoxinŽ).
- It is best not to drink alcohol while taking this medicine.
Warnings
- Check with your doctor before taking this medicine if you
have gout, kidney or liver disease, diabetes, or trouble urinating.
- Talk with your doctor before use if you are pregnant or
breastfeeding.
- You may need to eat or drink foods containing potassium to
prevent potassium loss while taking this medicine - check with your doctor. Some symptoms
of low potassium are muscle cramps and extreme weakness.
- This medicine may increase the level of sugar in your blood
which can worsen sugar diabetes.
- This medicine can worsen gout.
- To avoid dizziness from this medicine, stand up slowly from
a sitting or lying position.
Side effects
Call your doctor right away if you have any of these side effects:
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
- Wheezing or trouble breathing
- Skin rash, hives, or itching
- Muscle weakness, pain, or cramps
- Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
If you have problems with these less serious side effects,
talk with your doctor.
- Dizziness, drowsiness, or headache
- Trouble sleeping
- Upset stomach, nausea, or loss of appetite
- Dry mouth or intense thirst
- Diarrhea
