- MAXOLON/REGLAN (metoclopramide)
Treats symptoms of a stomach problem (gastroparesis)
in patients with diabetes. Also treats nausea and vomiting and heartburn.

You should not use this medicine if you have had an
allergic reaction to metoclopramide. You should not take this medicine if you have
epilepsy (seizures), bleeding or a blockage in the intestines, or pheochromocytoma (a
tumor that produces adrenalin).
- Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take and how
often.
- Take your medicine 30 minutes before eating and at bedtime
unless your doctor tells you differently.
- Carefully measure the syrup with a measuring spoon or
medicine cup.
- Keep your medicine at room temperature, away from light,
heat, and moisture. Do not freeze the syrup.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children
If you miss a dose:
- Take your medicine as soon as you remember that you have
missed your dose.
- If it is nearly time for your next dose, wait until then to
take the medicine and skip the missed dose.
- You should not use two doses at one time.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor
before taking this medicine.
- Check with your doctor before taking this medicine if you
have liver, or kidney disease, Parkinson's disease, or high blood pressure.
- This medicine may make you sleepy. Avoid driving a car or
using machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.
- This medicine may cause side effects that include muscle
spasms, twitching in the face and body, or tongue and jaw movement. Talk to your doctor
about this risk.
Side effects
Call your doctor right away if you have any of these side
effects:
- Unexplained high fever
- Severe muscle stiffness or tremors
- Trouble breathing
- Movement or twitching in the body that you cannot stop
If you have problems with these less serious side effects,
talk with your doctor.
- Drowsiness or restlessness
- Skin rash
- Nausea or diarrhea
- Headache
- Menstruation changes
- Breast swelling or discharge
- Depressed mood
If you have other side effects that you think are
caused by this medicine, tell your doctor.
