When you should not use this medicine
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to losartan or any
other ingredient in this medicine.
How to use and store this medicine
Tablets:
- Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to take
and how often.
- Do not stop taking your medicine unless your doctor tells
you to. Even if you feel well your blood pressure can still be high.
- You may take losartan with or without food.
- Store the tablets in a closed container at room temperature
away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
If you miss a dose:
- Take the missed dose as soon as possible, unless it is
almost time for your next dose.
- Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next
regular dose.
- You should not use two doses at the same time.
How to use this medicine
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter
medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking any diuretics
(water pills) such as Lasix® or hydrochlorothiazide.
Warnings
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or
breastfeeding before you start taking this medicine. If you become pregnant, tell your
doctor right away. Losartan may be harmful to your unborn baby, especially if taken after
the third month of pregnancy.
- Check with your doctor before taking losartan if you have
liver or kidney disease or heart failure.
- Losartan can make you dizzy. Be careful if you are driving a
car or using machinery.
Side effects
Call your doctor right away if you have any of these side effects:
- Wheezing or trouble breathing
- Swelling in the face, lips, or throat
- Hives or severe rash
If you have problems with these less serious side effects,
talk with your doctor.
- Dizziness
- Trouble sleeping
- Stuffy nose
- Diarrhea or upset stomach
