WHEN YOU SHOULD NOT USE THIS MEDICINE

You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to donepezil.

HOW TO USE AND STORE THIS MEDICINE

Tablets:

• Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take and how often.
• Your doctor may tell you to take one dose of donepezil every evening at bedtime.
• You may take the medicine with or without food.
• Store the tablets at room temperature, away from heat, direct light, and moisture.
• Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking ketoconazole (Nizoral®), quinidine (Quinaglute®, Cardioquin®), phenytoin (Dilantin®), carbamazepine (Tegretol®), dexamethasone (Decadron®), rifampin (Rifadin®), phenobarbital, Bentyl®, Cystospaz®, scopolamine (Transderm Scop®), atropine, Donnatal®, orphenadrine (Norflex®), or bethanechol (Urecholine®).

Taking donepezil with aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil®), and arthritis medicine (such as Naprosyn®, Indocin®, or Feldene®) may increase the risk of developing stomach ulcers.

WARNINGS

• Check with your doctor before taking this medicine if you have an irregular heartbeat, stomach ulcers, urination problems, seizures, or asthma or other problems with your breathing.
• Before having any type of surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking donepezil.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor before taking this medicine.

SIDE EFFECTS

Call your doctor right away if you have any of these side effects:

• Trouble urinating or painful urination
• Seizures
• Fast or irregular heartbeat

If you have problems with these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor.

• Mild nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
• Trouble sleeping
• Muscle cramps
• Poor appetite
• Feeling tired or dizzy
• Appetite loss
• Headache
